Some kind of CV:

Patrik Nilsson, born in Östersund, Sweden in 1962...

...Åkersberga... punk rock.... etc...

...for a couple of years I alternated between working as a cook and studying.

Then came the years as a journalist: freelancing as a computer, media and music reporter for magazines and TV... ending up as music & media editor at Slitz - back in the days when it was a music magazine...

In November 1994 I started working at the publishing company Medvik, where I was in charge of their Internet projects - helping my friends & colleagues at z.mag@zine with their web site Z Central and developing Topp40 Online, the web version of the Swedish weekly entertainment business magazine Topp40.

Then I moved on to Everyday Communication where I was responsible for the development and production of Everyday Village.
We did some fun stuff at Medvik and Everyday... quite a few Swedish web firsts... but the management was... well, you know...

So, in November -95, together with some colleagues, I left Everyday to form startup Intact.

A year later, after setting up the web publishing system for the Swedish daily Metro, I left Intact and began working as an independent consultant.

I canīt say much about what I have been doing lately... except that I have signed a lot of non-disclosure agreements; that my customers include Sweden Post, Netscape, Icon Medialab, Out There and Net Entertainment; and that my main focus the latest year has been on Certificate services and other PKI related issues, LDAP-based directory services, security and privacy issues, mail services and research and market intelligence.

Trying to sum up my current interests, Iīd say that itīs in establishing infrastructures that enable people to build their own contact networks (or "communities" if you want the cliche), as opposed to the top-down model of trying to build prefabricated social environments for people that is favored by the web centric industry at the moment.
And I tend to use a lot of plastic words like emergence, self organization and complexity...

Hmmmm... someday I'll update this page... it's been a while...
